WHY YOU DESERVE TO PUSH YOURSELF TO BE GREAT!

“THE GREATS WEREN’T GREAT BECAUSE AT BIRTH THEY COULD PAINT
THE GREATS WERE GREAT CAUSE THEY PAINT A LOT” – MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS

This quote beautifully outlines the effort that it takes to be great.

For some of you, the thought then goes to ‘well I don’t want to be great, I just want to be…’

I’M TELLING YOU, YOU DESERVE TO BE GREAT

Whether you want to learn to play the violin, or you have just started to play golf, the first thing you start to do is…Practise

Now, most of you realise that the more you practise the better you get. If you spend an hour a day, 5 days a week, you could expect to get pretty good at the violin. Even if you only watched YouTube videos and are self-taught.

1 hr x 5 days a week x 50 weeks (we’ll say you miss a couple of weeks while you’re on holiday)

Total hours of practice = 250 hours

Now considering there are 8,765 hours in a year, 250 doesn’t seem like that much, right?

You are right, it isn’t!

Often you look for the shortcut, the easy way to greatness, when history tells us, there isn’t one. The path to being great, even just being good, is built on hard work.

Often people think how can I do less and get more?

Do less > Get more

Sorry to break it to you, but doing less, gives you less.

If you have big goals, you’re going to have to do some big things. Big practise.

Everyone should have big goals, big goals that are scary that you must work hard for. Without big goals, life gets very boring.

Now I am the first to admit that life is hard and things happen.

As humans, we are designed to find the easiest way to do things, the path of least resistance.

But what if past the resistance or the obstacles, is where the magic is?

What if every time you can’t be bothered practising, you did it?

Every time you couldn’t be bothered driving in the rain to the gym, you went anyway?

Every time the alarm went off at 6am to wake up you got up and didn’t snooze?

Would it get easier?

Imagine hearing your alarm and realising the fact you don’t want to get out of your cosy, warm bed is, in fact, the reason that you should get up. Because on the other side of that warmth is your chance to better yourself.

Practise this, 5 days a week and I assure you it will get easier and you will be on your way to greatness
